The new El Caldito Soup Kitchen aims to replace the existing El Caldito Soup Kitchen with a larger, modern facility. The building will include up-to-date kitchen and dining facilities to provide meals for more of our food insecure citizens. El Caldito Soup Kitchen and Cocinas de Peregrinos, the user organizations, worked with the Public Works Architectural Management Program in developing this project.

The proposed new El Caldito Soup Kitchen (ECSK) project is Phase One of a new facility for the preparation and distribution of breakfast and lunch meals to those in need. This project will be located in the Mesilla Valley Community of Hope Campus at 991 W. Amador Blvd. The 9,660 SF building will be constructed to the south of the Casa de Perigrinos Food Pantry.

Phase One of the project will include the following:

 Selective demolition of various elements and systems within the existing

site as well as demolition of surrounding pavement and landscape area

 Site Improvements will include:

• New parking area

• New or extended utilities

• Drainage ponds and storm sewer lines

• Site lighting and security fencing and cameras

 Exterior Improvements will include:

• Exterior CMU walls

• New exterior finishes, including stucco and exposed CMU

• New windows and skylight areas for natural light

• New Roof and Roof structure

 Interior improvements will include:

• New concrete floor slab

• New under floor plumbing

• New security lighting and power

Furnish all labor, materials, services, and equipment to construct the El Caldito Soup Kitchen and attain Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification, per plans and specifications.
